What is the MVP Communicator?

The MVP (Most Valuable Platform) Communicator enables control, visibility, and planning for internal group email communications while also giving students the ability to personalize their communication experience. So, what does this look like?

University: The MVP Communicator Platform will act as a single point of contact for distribution and analytics. University Communicators will be able to organize channels and send emails, while also viewing insights such as past email communications and views.

Students: With the MVP Communicator Platform students can personalize their communication experience to better fit their preferences using a three-tiered opt-in/opt-out system, giving them more control over the volume of emails they receive.

Tier 1: Required by University / automatically subscribed
Tier 2: Recommended by University / automatically subscribed (can opt-out)
Tier 3: Student Preference (opt-in/opt-out)

Why MVP?

With email being the primary source of communication, as it is both provided and required by the University for staff, students, and faculty if important information needs to be distributed and considered “guaranteed as received” then email is utilized. The MVP Communicator was originally proposed by Fresno State’s Associated Student Inc. to address the oversaturated and untargeted email communications experienced by students. In a survey conducted by ASI in Dec. 2019 out of 573 students, 62% of students agreed or strongly agreed that they receive too many emails from Fresno State, with only 30% agreeing or strongly agreeing that the emails they received were relevant to their interests. This proposal is focused on improving the effectiveness of campus email communication to students in a consistent and coordinated manner.
