Technology Services

The Common Network Initiative

The Common Network Initiative (CNI) is an ongoing effort to maintain campus baseline network infrastructure as technology advances and user needs evolve. Funded by the Chancellor’s Office, the CNI provides for the refresh of each campus network infrastructure on a cyclical basis to ensure that network infrastructure continues to keep pace with technology and meets the changing needs of the Fresno State community.

What to expect?

As part of the Common Network Initiative (CNI) program, Technology Services will perform major campus network infrastructure upgrades on all state-owned buildings from April 14th through April 30th (approximate).

Project teams will visit each building to replace and upgrade network equipment and may require access to some offices during that time. Work will happen from 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM (approximate) during the week of Spring Break (April 14-18) and after business hours thereafter. Intermittent network service interruptions will happen during the upgrade, and staff may use Zoom Phone on their computers or cell phones if the need arises for a call.

Desk phones, computers, and notepads will resume functioning once the maintenance is complete and the network connection is restored.

What is the timeline?

The schedule is subject to change as we go. Please check back often (morning and afternoon) until your building is complete.
